In the year of 2002, Senior Pastor, Dr. Tyrone D. Haywood, knowing that God had a ministry deposited in him from birth was led by the Spirit of God to form and incorporate Rehoboth Well Ministries, Inc (RWMI).
On a Friday night, in the year of 2002, Pastor Haywood received a word from Bishop Prentiss Thomas saying that God wanted him to do a radio ministry again. Bishop Prentiss stated that he did not know if Pastor Haywood would be on the radio for a short or long time. Stretching out in faith, he started under the auspice of RWMI a radio broadcast called the Broken Vessel on April 26, 2002. The radio ministry spanned a period of six months. From the 2002 – 2009, he stood alone in this ministry as an intercessory prayer warrior.
In July 2009, Pastor Haywood attended the retirement of his longtime colleague and friend, Co-Pastor Dr. Pearlie R. Vinson-Morris; whom he had co-taught with for seven years at Martin Luther King Jr. High in the city of East St. Louis, IL. During the retirement dinner held to honor Dr. Morris, in which he was programmed to sing, Pastor Haywood prophetically proclaimed that Co-Pastor Dr. Morris had retired from teaching, but was now getting ready to be used in ministry.
In August 2010, God spoke by His Spirit to Pastor Haywood, telling him that he was in a time of preparation for the assignment He had for him. In September of that same year, Pastor Haywood became a student at the International College of Bible Theology with an emphasis on Teaching and Outreach. Shortly afterwards, Co-Pastor Pearlie Morris joined RWMI and together the two met every other Saturday for intercessory prayer alternating between their homes in Fairview Heights, IL and Florissant, MO. Adding to the expansion of RWMI, as an integral part of its ministries, Pastor Haywood and Co-Pastor Morris teamed up with Evangelist Dr. Karen Wells founder of Jesus is the Way Ministry. Dr. Wells accepted the position of secretary of the RWMI Board of Directors and has been faithful making Rehoboth Well Ministries, Inc. a “cord of three strands not easily broken.”
In the year of 2011, Co-Pastor Morris, being led by the Holy Spirit, conveyed to Pastor Haywood that she felt that the ministry should begin a nursing home ministry. In March of 2011, Apostle Dr. Paula Boddie got up from her desk at Clay Elementary School, walked with boldness and the anointing to where Pastor was sitting. She looked him in the eyes saying, “What are you waiting for--the Lord says, “Your time of preparation is over--When are you getting Started?” In awe of what had transpired, Pastor Haywood replied, “I don’t know.” Apostle Boddie repeated, “When are you getting started. Pastor Haywood remembering what Co-Pastor Morris had spoken said, “Next month RWMI will begin its nursing home ministry”. Pastor Haywood posed the question to Apostle Boddie, “But what shall I tell the people?” Apostle Dr. Boddie then asked Pastor Haywood, “What has God done for you?” Pastor responded, “God has always shown me His love and mercy. Apostle Boddie replied, “That’s enough to get you started.” As a result of this spiritual encounter, the nursing home outreach ministry began in April of 2011 at Virgil Calvert Nursing Home, later known as Nathan Health Care Center. Pastor Haywood, along with Co-Pastor Morris, Evangelist Wells, and musician Pamela Edgar ministered there every 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month.
In December 2011, RWMI launched its women ministry by accepting an invite from Sister Corrine Dinwiddie to her home to do a bible study every second Saturday of the month. Sister Corrine, because of health problems, was unable to attend Morning Star Baptist Church. We were glad God chose us to be his instrument. We ministered to her and others that came until the death of our dear sister.
In the summer of 2014, RWMI began going to Lincoln Park in East St. Louis, IL to minister to those that gathered in it. On August 9th, 2014 the ministry culminated that year of park ministry and created a heavenly portal by holding its first Gospel Harvest Fest Outreach.
After ministering at Nathan’s Health Care Center for five years (2011 -2016) the facility closed, thus that time of grace meant we had to position ourselves to see what God was saying to do. In October 2016, God used our church drummer, Geremy Spencer to facilitate RWMI moving to its first church home. As Pastor Haywood was lying in bed early one Sunday morning the phone rang. Geremy was serving as a drummer for another ministry. The pastor at that church had a classroom in which he had turned to a second sanctuary. Upon him telling Geremy he was trying to decide what church to rent it out to, Geremy said to him our church needed a place. The pastor asked him what is your pastor’s name? Geremy responded, Dr. Haywood. The pastor then replied, “Dr. Haywood taught me my first Gospel song, “The Potter’s House.” After talking to the pastor over the phone, Pastor Haywood agreed that he and Co-Pastor Morris would come look at the sanctuary. Pastor Haywood conferred with Co-Pastor Morris and Apostle Long (covering shepherd) and the same week signed a contract to lease the sanctuary.
The last Sunday of October, and the first Sunday of November 2016, the “three strand cord” met at the Light of Christ Church Administrative Building (formerly known as Billy Jones School) praying. RWMI held its first Sunday service on November 9th, 2016 with Mr. Marshall Gurley serving as musician for the nest seven months, which we are grateful for. RWMI sojourned there for four months before moving to The Ministry Complex located at 1200 North 41st Street, East St. Louis, IL ,which is also the home of Christian Growth Center Church (CGCC). CGCC is pastored by, Apostle Dr. Ednorleatha Long, the covering pastor for Pastor Haywood, and Co-Pastor Dr. Pearlie Vinson Morris. They both count it a blessing to be housed at CGCC were the members whole heartily treat them with love and respect and their pastor has a shepherd’s heart.
This past summer, RWMI took the Love of God from house to house, door to door in the city of East St. Louis and Washington Park, IL. During RWMI’s street ministry, many received prayer for their personal and family situations. We thank God for those that accepted Christ as their Savior and those that re-committed their lives to God.
It should be noted that Co-Pastor Morris incorporated personal ministry, Sister to Sister Except for God Ministry, located in the state of Missouri on April 9th, 2001.
